no fine-print ambush

real help counts.

the helper deal

Every note that makes the final cut = your name in the credits of the final video 🎬. Add your optional first name or handle after sending feedback so Gabe knows how to credit you. Helper points recognise useful contributions; they do not promise a cash payout.

one quick-feedback chip, video vote, transition verdict, overall pick or pairwise battle = 1 point. one verdict per category per version = 1 point. your first substantive written idea for each version = 3 points. repeated votes, duplicate text and reaction spam earn nothing extra. spam can be removed. an optional public handle lets your help appear on the leaderboard.

no purchase needed. supporting the hostel fund buys no points, better odds, or waiting-list priority. the hackathon's organisers decide the actual winner under their own rules.

the hostel fund

optional personal support for gabe's stay, not a charitable donation. minimum €1; choose your amount at stripe checkout. the €40 target includes Revolut support manually confirmed by Gabe and gross successful euro Stripe payments made by 7 november 2026, 11:30 pm san francisco (8 november, 07:30 utc), less recorded refunds. stripe fees reduce what gabe receives.

the result stays visible after the deadline. later support is counted separately and doesn't rewrite that result. for a payment question or refund request: gabriel@corvus.gent.

what this experiment remembers

by default, a random page-visit ID is held in memory, never saved to your device. it links this visit’s plays, feedback and campaign source for up to 90 days. closing or reloading the page creates a new ID. GPC, DNT or “don’t count me” switches this to aggregate counts without that ID. request headers and raw IP addresses aren't saved by this feature. the existing hosting provider still handles technical request logs as described in the privacy page.

when you vote or submit feedback, a necessary signed cookie prevents duplicate votes. the feature's pseudonymous duplicate checks, helper handle, written feedback and poll answers expire after 90 days. the shared anti-abuse cookie lasts up to one year. your chosen handle is saved locally for convenience. new quick-feedback notes and your optional handle appear on the public wall. older privately submitted ideas stay private. don't put private information in feedback.

optional journey tracking is off by default. if you turn it on, a random ID and your first and latest campaign links are saved in localStorage for up to 90 days. linked events include the cut, play progress and reaction time. these are pseudonymous, not guaranteed anonymous. GPC, DNT and the site's “don't count me” choice disable both forms of linked journey tracking. turn it off on the experiment page to remove the local ID; existing events expire within 90 days.

only allowlisted campaign fields and known referrer hostnames are kept; never full referring URLs. aggregate counts can remain. payment receipts and billing details stay with stripe; this site stores a payment reference, amount and campaign source for duplicate/refund handling for one year, not card details or email addresses. Revolut payments happen on Revolut; Gabe confirms totals manually, without storing names or payment notes here. videos are served by Vercel Blob in Frankfurt via its CDN.
